In the year 2006, i took seriously ill in boarding school that i had to be sent home to my mother. Something i didn't really like because of the financial constraints she had; we had to move from one part of the town to another part to enable her pay rent comfortably and reduce some of her expenses.
So, i didn't want to increase it for her but all the same i was sent home.

I was high with fever that you could feel the heat coming out of my body, headache, body aches and appetite was gone. My mum did all she could for days and nights nothing worked. She prayed; anointed me with oil, feet washing and  used the mantle. Nothing still worked.

She resorted to calling her sister and brother in-law who are medical practitioners. They too ran all the test, gave me all forms of medication to atleast bring down my fever but it didnt work. I was weak, no food eaten; surviving on glucose D and ORS (oral rehydration solution). In the pain of it all, God still kept me.

Prayers was being offered on my behalf by people my mum had called. She too was not relenting her efforts. I could hear her praying and crying; my heart broke.

Then one evening, i was being laid on the palour floor while my mum was seated on a chair reading her Bible.
All of a sudden, she got up abruptly; went inside her bedroom, came out and placed her tithe booklet on my chest. She then sat on the floor and began praying in our dialet (Ibibio).

The prayer went thus: "My God( Abasi mmi), thank you for my daugther Uduakobong. For her life i thank you. Thank you for being the Father to the fatherless and the reliever of the widow. Thank you for her life has not been lost even in this condition. My father, i have done all i can do. Nothing is working. Father, i am reminding You of Your word that says if i pay my tithes that You will rebuke the devourer for my sake, that my fruits shall not be destroyed and my vine will not cast its fruits before her time. My Father, this is the evidence that i pay my tithes( she laid hands on the tithe booklet on my chest) . I know you are a God that keeps to Your word. So, rebuke this devourer in my daughters body, she cannot die before her time. You are the father to the fatherless and You can do more than her earthly father if he were to be alive. My Father, proof Your  Word in the live of my daughter."

I didn't hear her say Amen. She just sat there and cried then got up and went to her room.

It wasn't up to five minutes, i felt as if cold water was poured on me and i broke out in sweat. Strength returned. I got up, sat. The first thing i said to one of my sisters was " bring me food am hungry".

Food was brought. Another of my sister went to tell mum i was eating. She came out to see for herself. I informed her i was healed.

I returned to school the following Monday and that affliction on my health was broken completely.

Praise God!

I feel so gross.
I said that, well thought that, to myself this morning as I looked in the mirror after getting off the scale. I have been practicing that negative self talk for some time now.  I am by no means fat. I have a few extra pounds on me after having my son a year ago. I have been making healthier choices and working out but it’s not going away quickly. It’s discouraging and frustrating and at times, clearly, affects my self esteem.
The day didn’t get any better as I got dressed and didn’t like anything I tried on. I pouted before settling on an outfit and heading out the door, my son on my hip. I ran my errands, feeling sorry for myself but not showing it outwardly.

Then I hopped on Instagram and saw a picture of Kylie Jenner, posed for some magazine, looking like, well, a model. I thought, Ok, not fair, she had a baby like a few months ago right?! She already looks better then me. Then it hit me, why am I comparing myself to Kylie Jenner? Her body is her job, her livelihood, of course she looks better then me. She probably has private chefs and people smacking the pizza out of her hand at every turn. She has a personal trainer who gets her up to work out . AND she has everyone in the world watching her right now, of course she looks good.
Then I thought about my negative self image a little more. I wasn’t just comparing myself to Kylie, I was comparing myself (unnecessarily) to all the women around me. For what? Does it matter to my kids that mom has a little extra pounds on her? When I speak negatively about myself out loud, in front of my girls ( I know, wtf ) they always look confused. You’re not fat, my step daughter tells me and I know she means it because she is not one to mince words.  Do I really think my son cares? I’m mom to him, kinda chubby, kinda skinny, in all my forms, mom. They really don’t give a shit.
And let me tell you, my husband really doesn’t care either. He cares that I don’t feel good about myself, not that my jeans are a little tighter. He cares about the example I am setting for our girls. He cares if I put the toilet paper on wrong (for the record, I had no idea there was a wrong way to put the toilet paper on, but apparently, it’s a big deal.)
After coming to this realization I instantly starting being more kind to myself. I am stopping with the negative self talk. I am not comparing myself to others. I am giving myself a little grace. I grew, birthed, and breastfed a human this past year. I cared for 3 tiny humans in my home this year. All those tiny humans are thriving. I poured into my marriage and my husband and I are doing great. I am looking at all of the things I am doing well, instead of the one area I thought I was doing poorly.
This positive self talk is something I am making a conscious effort to do from now on. I am going to say one kind thing about myself when I wake up tomorrow, and every morning. For example: Hey Megan, you have really nice boobs, even after breastfeeding two kids. Or: Hey girl, your is naturally blond and you only have to spend $30 on a haircut when most women have to get a cut and color for $150.
But seriously, I am more then that number on the scale. I am not lesser of a woman, mother, wife if I have a little extra weight on me. I am still going to continue to make better choices and exercise. I want to be healthy, body and mind, all of them together.

A story is told of a gardener who served in a large estate in northern Italy. The garden was well-groomed and tended to,that visitors came just to see the garden.
On this particular day, the gardener was conducting a visitor through castle and beautiful garden. Lunch time came and the gardener invited the visitor join him and wife.

The visitor commended them for the tending to the garden so beautifully. He then asked, "By the way, when was the last time the owner was here?"
"About ten years ago." The gardener replied.
"Then why do you keep the gardens in such an immaculate, lovely manner?" Asked the visitor.
The gardener replied, "Because am expecting him to return."
"Is he coming next week?"
The gardener replied, "I don't know when he is coming, but I am expecting him today."

The owner of the estate didn't come back that day. And the gardener was still tending to its owners garden.
This story applys to us as Christians to tend for our lives and the lives of others while waiting for our Lords return.

The period of waiting for the Lords return, is a time we should engage in active service to God. Beginning with our selfs; taking out the weeds in our lives. Its a time to win souls for the Lord. It is a time for spiritual awakening.
Luke 19:13 says "...occupy till I come."

The day and time of our Lords return has not been us (John 14:2-3). How the the Lord's return will be has been told us and one of it is from 1Thessalonians 4:14-18

"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them  also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive  and remain unto the coming of  the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with  the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive  and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet  the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

Many have said He is no longer coming. The have made a mockery of His return. (2Peter 3:3-4).
As Born-again Christians we should not be moved and distracted by all the going on. Remain steadfast. Let your life-style be a reflection of Jesus that attracts others to Him. Just be ready for His return.

For those of us who are not in Christ or have backslided or still struggling with secret sins, its not late to be ready for Him too.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. (Romans 3:23)

2. Repent now. (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:19)

3. Believe that Jesus died for you and God loves you. (Romans 5:8)

4. Invite Jesus into your life through the prayer of faith and if you have prayed this prayer before, you just need to rededicate your life back to Jesus. (Revelations 3:20)

Episode 2.

I was still devastated with the thoughts of Ifeoma and my husband David. After I watched the kids sleep, I strolled into the kitchen to make myself a cup of tea.
Just after I poured the milk in a mug, I felt someone was in the kitchen too. I looked back, quickly surprised.
“Welcome Madam,” she said, almost stuttering.
I slowly poured the hot water from the flask into the mug, stirred it a bit and sipped.
Then I noticed a protruded stomach, she had tried to cover it with her handbag.
“Are you pregnant Ifeoma? you look it.” I asked in a soft tone.
Her expression was in earnest. “Yes madam, didn’t pastor tell you? I am pregnant for him, we are expecting a child.”
Her voice had a tremor in it, even though her face was bold and firm.
Her words were like the score of a sharpened blade across my heart. I sensed the wound gape open even before she’d finished speaking.
“You were sleeping with my husband while I was away?”
“I am sorry madam, I think pastor is in the best place to answer that question. it was an agreement."
She said calmly and walked out of the kitchen, making a flappy sound with her shoes.
I stood there for moments like a mannequin, the tea cup in my hands, and then my eyes right at the door.
The sound of my ringing tone brought me back from the shock I had.
“Hello Ekom?”
“Yes, Lizzy,” I responded with a sigh of relieve.
“Thank God I have been able to reach you, I have been dialing your American lines but not going through.” she sounded a bit terrified.
“well, I am back in Nigeria now. I came in this morning. Is everything fine?”
“Not at all, pastor brought your girl for maternity scan at my clinic last weekend. What’s that her name again?”
“Iyaaa, Ifeoma. I was shocked to see her all over him like they were lovers. What is happening?”
Tears rolled down my eyes as Lizzy went on talking about things that went on while I was away. Something flared deep in my eyes, but my lips remained sealed.
I was stricken silent, but the thud of my heartbeat sounded like cannon fire in my ears.

Episode 3
I wanted to talk to David. When I knew he was home I decided to go to our bedroom.
“May I come in?” My expression inscrutable, I walked into the room when I noticed that someone was having a bath, without waiting for a reply.
Then I saw David on the bed, he was almost half naked, partly covered with the duvet.
He stared at me, slightly muzzy headed after being woken abruptly.
“We have to talk,” I said, almost whispering.
“I know.” he said.
“Who is in the bathroom?”
“oh, it’s Ifeoma.”
“Ifeoma now uses our bathroom?” I looked at David and suddenly wished the look in his eyes meant guilt and shame.
“Yes. She is having my baby.”
“I am aware David. But why have you taken yourself so down?”
“I am a human being Ekom!” He said huskily, raising his voice.
“So I am what? Am I not a human being too? I went to America with the church’s name, with the family name. I went there to make a name for us! To get Hills of grace ministries a branch in Houston takes so many churches years, but I used my charisma, and did that in few months…..”
“What I mean is…..” He faltered. But my heart was going wild.
“let me finish!” I screamed!
Just after a pause, Ifeoma came out of the bathroom, she had my towel tied around her.
“Who gave you my towel?” I asked meanly.
“I did.” David replied.
“Ifeoma, why were you sleeping with my husband while I was away? You were paid to take care of the kids, and clean the house” The look I gave and my voice tone practically froze the blood in her veins.
I walked steps by steps towards her, dragged the towel off her body, leaving her naked.
“Aunty please….” she whimpered.
“Did you remember all the good things I did for you and your family while you were having sex with my husband! did you?” I held her neck forcefully while David ran and held me backward.
They both sensed the tension in the room and ran out.
Slowly I let out the breath I was holding.
leaning back on the luxurious upholstery, I let a smile steal my lips like the sun peeping from behind the cloud. God was watching, and I needed to talk to him.

That morning, my husband David came to pick me at the airport. He was dry faced and tensed, very unusual. Other times, David would be so excited to come pick me, he would kiss me and hug me passionately, but now, everything became different.
“You kept me waiting for hours in there,” I said, gazing angrily at him. “Don’t tell me it’s traffic honey, today is Saturday.”
“I am sorry, I had to pick the kids from summer lessons, and then rush to church to counsel a few couples.”He said soothingly. “You now prepare the kids for school, What happened to Ifeoma? She is the kid’s nanny.”
“And you are the kids mom!” He screamed suddenly. “You’ve been away from your family for 5months Ekom, the kids don’t even talk about you anymore.” David deliberately slowed his breathing in a bid to calm himself down.
I was silent for a while. My lips quivered, but David ignored that he saw tears glistening in my eyes.
Catching his eyes as he tried to look at me, I sensed a shiver of unease goes through him. He was right, I was away from my family for four months or more, I had women’s conference and hundreds of women to mentor in Houston. It was a moment I didn’t want to miss. Then I broke the silence; “What of Ifeoma?”
David looked uncertain. “she fell ill, so I asked her to go see Doctor Dennis.”
We were both quiet until we got home.
I sat on my bed now, I slipped off my slippers and sank my feet into the rug and decided to keep them sunk in so that my toes would feel cushioned. So that a part of me would feel safe.
“Mummy!” my daughter screamed, breathing deeply.
She smuggled into my arms and I grabbed her tight to myself.
“where is your sister?” I whispered into her ears.
“She is sleeping.”
Not long I heard tiny foot running along the corridor that led to my room. “mummy, mummy…” She jumped on me and kissed me on my cheeks, leaving me in the sweet comfort of motherhood.
They looked so healthy and chubby.
“what has Aunty Ifeoma and Daddy been feeding you with?”
“Golden mourn and banana porridge!” they chorused shrilly.
“Mummy, Church people said that you are no longer daddy’s wife.” My first daughter Teye said, her eyes became sad. Deep and sad.
“Aunty Ifeoma now sleeps in daddy’s room.” Mfon the youngest said.
My heart jumped, I knew at that moment, that there were stories In their eyes that I was yet to know.

Have you ever read in the Bible about the man with six fingers and six toes? I bet you haven't.

Now, he was from the family of giants; probably between 7 feet (2.13cm) and 9 feet (2.72cm) in height. He fought many wars with the children of Israel.
2 SAMUEL 21:20
And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of  great  stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.

Much hasn't been recorded of him in the Bible but we can find him being mentioned again in 1 Chronicles 20:6.

Scientifically, the unique condition he had is called polydactyly. According to Wikipedia, its defined:

Polydactyly or polydactylism (from Greek πολύς (polys), meaning 'many', and δάκτυλος(daktylos), meaning 'finger'),[1] also known as hyperdactyly, is a congenital physical anomaly inhumans and animals resulting in supernumerary fingers and/or toes.

Well in the end, this 'man of great stature' rebeled against Israel and he was slayed by David's nephew; Jonathan.

First, read the 📖 BIBLE. Don't stick to one version of the Bible; use King James version, New international version, Good News version, Amplified version, etc Get an indept knowledge of Him personally.

Secondly, read 📚 books authored by men of God. Like, David Oyedepo, Kenneth Copeland, Kathryn Kulman, Kenneth Haggin, Enoch Adeboye, Gloria Copeland etc.

Thirdly, attend a Bible believingchurch that preaches the true word of God and recognises Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Also get close to the Pastor and ask questions.

Fourthly, Accept Jesus as your personal Lord and saviour and confess your sins and guilt to Him. For He is the way to God the Father.

Finally, ask the help of the Holy Spirit. For he teaches, guides, directs etc.
Make reading of the Word of God(Bible) become a daily, hourly habit and pray without ceasing.

Please know that, knowing God is more than believing in His existence but having a personal relationship with Him.

Also, being BORN-AGAIN (salvation) is a personal choice.
To know more of God is a decision only you can make. No one will force it on you and God won't do same.

The choice is yours to make; to know Him more. Why don't you invite Him into your life now.

God bless us.
